Aiptek PocketCinema Z20 packs pico projector and 720p camcorder
Watch out, Flip , because here’s one tough guy that you don’t wanna mess with. Joining Aiptek ’s family of pocket camcorders is the PocketCinema Z20 — a fine mix of 720p camera (courtesy of a 5 megapixel sensor) and pico projector of an unknown resolution, powered by a two-hour battery (which we’ll believe when we see it).
Corsair’s 128GB Flash Voyager GTR thumb drive takes USB 2.0 to new heights
Who needs USB 3.0 adapters when you’ve got Corsair , right? In a feat of engineering that can only be described as earth-shattering (or supercalifragilistic, if you prefer), said outfit has somehow created a USB 2.0 flash drive that not only beats the competition in head-to-head speed tests, but obliterates it. The 128GB Flash Voyager GTR utilizes a fancy quad-channel architecture in order to deliver read speeds up to 34MB/sec and write speeds up to 28MB/sec, which is around six times faster than some mysterious competitor that the company pit its drive against.
TiVo Premiere and Premiere XL usher in a brand new interface, optional QWERTY remote
Over three years after the original Series3 launched , TiVo’s back with Series4 — say hello to the new TiVo Premiere and Premiere XL, which will arrive in early April. The new slimmer hardware is nice, but the big news is the totally revamped HD interface built on Flash — yes, Flash — with all kinds of new options for discovering content from recorded, on-air, and internet sources.
Fujitsu’s LifeBook UH900 gets unboxed, sized up against the competition
Fujitsu’s LifeBook UH900 started shipping to Americans just over a fortnight ago, and now one has landed into the capable hands of Pocketables . Boasting a 2GHz Atom CPU and some of the most unsightly adapters we’ve ever seen, this flip-open handheld — which just looks too lovely to be saddled with the “UMPC” moniker — strangely stirs something within our heart. It’s one of those “I know I don’t need it, but I just have to have it” things.
Redpark announces serial and RJ-11 cables for iPhone/iPod touch/iPad
It’s not like we spend much time with serial cables and RJ-11 jacks these days, but we do appreciate that they have their uses, especially among industrial customers and hobbyists — so it’s no surprise that the enterprising folks at Redpark have cooked up adapters for the iPhone / iPod touch (and, presumably, the iPad).
MvixUSA’s Ultio goes Pro, gets PVRified
While MvixUSA’s Ultio was a worthy successor to the earlier MvixPVR in most regards, it lacked one crucial feature: video recording. That’s back in the new Ultio Pro, which delivers all the plethora of media support as before (MKV, h.264, DivX, Xvid, Quicktime, FLV, etc.), adding the ability to record content — though sadly only standard definition stuff via a set of old faithful red/white/yellow composite inputs. Once connected to your LAN via Ethernet or optional 802.11n adapter it can also act as a Torrent client, downloading to a (likewise optional) 2TB hard drive, and all that video is beamed back at ya over component, composite, or HDMI outputs, pictured below.
