Sapphire makes multi-monitor 3D gaming a reality with a single video card
Multi-monitor gaming is hardly uncommon these days, but 3D gaming on the PC is, well, decidedly less common. Perhaps it will be the merging of the two immersive approaches that finally gets 3D going on the PC, and Sapphire is showing that it’s possible

We just couldn’t leave this face-off of superscreens alone, and went back for another bite at the cherry. Admittedly, we found out the Galaxy S had a browser-specific brightness setting that we hadn’t maxed out before setting off our camera hounds, so we’ve gone and remedied earlier comparison shots with the gallery below, and just as a bonus, we’ve now also run a HD video clip on both phones.
HTC running low on AMOLED stock, will add SLCD to the mix for some models
AMOLED displays in phones haven’t necessarily lived up to their promise; they’d been billed as the be-all, end-all answer for clarity, vibrance, and low power consumption, but in reality, the latest and greatest LCDs look just as good, offer similar viewing angles, have little to no impact on battery life, and fare far better in direct sunlight. We’ve been able to confirm this evening that HTC will be adding an additional supplier of displays later this year — Sony — which will be delivering its Super TFT LCD tech as a mobile exclusive (initially, at least) to key HTC handsets, some of which are already in the marketplace.
Toshiba prepping dual-screen ‘GuideBook’ tablet for June launch?
Believe it or not, Toshiba has been toying around with dual-screen tablets at least as far back as 2006 , and it looks like it might be trying its hand at the idea again now that it’s catching on a bit — DigiTimes is reporting that company has a new dual-screen “GuideBook” device on track for a June launch. Unfortunately, the only other details at the moment are that the device will apparently pack two 7-inch displays, and that it will supposedly be manufactured by Toshiba in-house.
LG Display and iriver enter joint venture to make e-book readers pretty, affordable
Well what do you know, turns out the LB4400 was a harbinger of things to come. LG Display and iriver just announced a $5M joint venture to manufacture e-book readers. The new China-based company, L&I Electronic Technology (Dongguan) Ltd, sees iriver doing the platform development and product design (thank gawd) while LG provides the EPD displays
Panasonic’s 152-inch 4K-resolution 3D plasma ships this fall
Say goodbye to the former king of Panasonic plasmas, the old 103-inch that toured the country and took center stage in presidential elections is old news, moved aside for a new family of commercial displays including the 152-inch 4K resolution 3DTV towered over all at this year’s CES . Just in case 4096 x 2160 is too much resolution, there are 103- and 85-inch 1080p versions available as well, but seriously, look at that thing.
