New York attorney general charges: bribery and threats of Intel PC’s

After nearly two years of investigation, the New York attorney general Wednesday accused the United States, Intel in order to maintain a monopoly position in the chip market to take a “bribery and coercion” and so on.

In fact Intel is also facing the U.S. Federal Trade Commission investigation, the EU has imposed a fine of one billion euros, Japan and South Korea’s anti-monopoly agencies have also made similar allegations. However, chief prosecutor of the State of New York Andrew kumo (Andrew Cuomo) submitted by the litigation, is by far the most detailed and the wording of the most severe of a lawsuit.

He stated in court that Intel in order to maintain a monopoly, using bribery and coercion, rather than fair competition; Intel’s actions not only unfairly limits the potential competitors, but also damages the ordinary consumers get better products and lower prices of the rights of these illegal means must stop, must be to restore fair competition in the chip market.

Kumo hope that Intel will continue to prohibit the use of anti-competitive means to restore lost competitive situation, to impose penalties and compensation for Intel’s New York State and consumer losses. Suit alleges that Intel paid to PC manufacturers billions of dollars in kickbacks, including Dell in 2006 to two billion U.S. dollars paid kickbacks; another PC company Intel has also threatened that if they cooperate with AMD will be punished.

In response, Intel issued a statement refuted the allegations of the prosecution, New York.
