Will Channel Tunnel to get mobile coverage by 2012 Olympics?

Plans are afoot to bring phone connectivity for passengers travelling for the Channel Tunnel soon enough for that 2012 London Olympics. Several British networks, Vodafone O2, Everything Everywhere (Orange and T-Mobile) and Three are ready to join forces with their counterparts in France to talk about the costs of the ¡ê20m project.

Reported by a report in today’s Daily Telegraph, the master plan is usually to formulate the entire 31.4-mile route from Dover to Calais make it possible for passengers to make use of their phones throughout the journey.

The Telegraph report says that Ofcom is ready required plan the go-ahead, with French telecoms infrastructure company signed-up to install the tech.
